CT Pace Per Mile Update: Trail Racing

As my faithful readers know, I am a state reporter for Pace Per Mile. You can find the details for races featured in my report for January 9 – 15, 2012 here…

It’s winter in Connecticut, so there aren’t many races on which I can report. If you know of any great races coming up in the next few weeks, please email me to have your race featured in an upcoming report. The one, lonely race I could find coming up is a trail race. For trail enthusiasts, this sounds like a fun race.

Belleville Pond 10k Trail Race, Saturday, January 28, 2012, 10am, North Kingstown, RI – This is the third race in the South County 4th Season Race Series. The race is billed as a true trail race, with rolling wooded trails in Ryan Park in North Kingstown. The race organizers report that the surfaces are mostly packed dirt with leaf cover, but with any trail race, that is subject to race-day conditions. The registration fee is $10 preregistration per entry, and families of 2 or more pay only $20. Registration is available online through active.com until 1/26/12. Race day registration is available, but with a $15/$30 price. Entry also requires that runners bring at least two donation items (see race website for details) on race day to be donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

I hope that you are using the racing off season to achieve your running goals. Check out the great online resources at Runner’s World for tips on strength training and milage maintenance in the off season.
